Citadel's Fall Fair 2014

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our Fall Fair this year.  We had over 20 booth registrations this year.   Cobs Bread (Crowfoot) were on site handing out their sweet buns to the children who could decorate and eat them, as well as a free loaf of bread coupon to those who stopped by their table.  The City’s PUPPY Program provided an information booth, which included pelts and a little scat game.    Heather McKay arranged for the City of Calgary to man our three games tables (pencil pull, lolly-pop tree and prize spin the wheel)

Pumpkins were flying out of the truck for decorating.  We ran out just shortly before the event ended.  Over 200 pretty imaginative children in Citadel decorated pumpkins.  Shari Pitka supervised the craft area, pumpkin decorating, book mark craft, and the coloring contest table.  Francois Beauregard and David Cox who were our “chief cooks” outside, braving the winds.

Congratulations to Hannah Jacobson - Her name was drawn from the coloring entries.

Thank you to the men that braved our pie eating contest.  Our Pie Eating Contest winner is Denis Chalifour.  He ate the COMPLETE pie in the 2 minute contest.   I bet there was no room for supper after that pie hit his stomach J  Dennis won a movie certificate for two including drinks and popcorn, along with a Winner’s Trophy.

A HUGE thank you to:

COBS Bread Crowfoot (Dana Peck), Hampton’s Coop for the Pies (Betty Garon) and McDonalds for the food certificates (Stephanie Mandryk).  Our sponsors, ATB Financial, Beacon Hill, Allstate Insurance, Run Digital, for their sponsorships and donations to this year’s Fall Fair.

Thanks to community volunteers  Jenn Gordon and Bernard Anyaour.  I don’t know what we’d do without our Board members and their spouses/family members. They assisted in set up, tear down and everything else in-between.   Volunteers are the heart and soul of our community, and enable our events to continue.  Sign up today to be a Citadel Community Association volunteer   by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.
